Dear Everyone, couple of days ago, the engine service light is on, mymechanic help me remove the code and told me come back if the light ison again (he told me some sensor 's problem, not clear). Today thelight comes back, so drive to Autozone, check it for free, the codesays "XXX water pump" (sorry not familiar with cars). How many waterpumps in a car? is that one close to the timing belt?

My millage is 86K, I want to drive for two more yrs to get the timingbelt changed. If I don't want to change the water pump, will it damagemy engine? What should I do ?

Appreciate for any suggestions. Thanks again.

There should be only one water pump in a car. And the water pump doesn't have to be close to the timing belt. It pushes water run around engine to cool engine down.
For timeing belt, you'd better change it in time (around every 70k miles). Tell us the when did you change the timing belt.

did not change the timing belt yet, I suppose to change it after one more year. In this case, I probably change it soon. the Autozone guy told me the code after the check: P1357 or P1457 (should be one of them, not sure now). what the real trouble if it's not a pump problem?

BTW, since there is a water pump in a car, do we need add any water that should be consumable after a certain time?

If you want to use the car for a while, you'd better change the timing belt very soon.
For the code, you have to let the specific mechanic to explain it, since different brand has their own diffinition.
You should check your rediator once for a while to see if there is enough liquid in it. Actually, a simpler way is to check the reservor of the rediator.

这些图非常有用。我们可以用在论坛里面。但出书时候不能用，因为会侵犯版权。
