先说Honor Code. Honor Code是美国一般大学都有的，说白了，就是禁止你作弊的system。 我当初进Caltech的时候，Honor Code 管的范围可真够大的，小到别人放在冰箱里的吃得你不许拿，大到TA不许和自己的学生going out ，什么都管。可是只有一句话：No member of the Caltech community shall take unfair advantage of any other member of the Caltech community， 就能包罗万象了。到了Princeton,可能由于园子大的缘故，Honor Code只适用于本科生，研究生不受限制。我觉得这个规定简直ridiculous, 这么说，研究生考试就能作弊了？抄作业就能为所欲为了？所以到这边读master/Ph.D的中国来的学生对美国的honor system一点概念都没有了！我觉得在这里我还是应该提个醒的。曾经在网上看到这么一条消息，一个从中国来的女学生在一门take home的考试中把自己的试卷借给别人抄，老师发现后报告给学校，结果学校要开除该女生，遣送其回国。我相信这是一件真事，而且惩罚的不算最严重.当事人的男友在bbs上发信求救。不少人回复他：活该！可能刚从中国来的学生听起来有点耸人听闻，可是这就是残酷的事实。我在Caltech的时候当过一段TA, 我的学生中恰好有从两个中国来的研究生。第一次作业我发现他们两个同时犯了一模一样，并且非常stupid的错误，我在他们的作业上写上一行话，提醒他们注意，结果他们赶快跑来见我，作了很多解释。后来我再也没有发现类似的情况发生。可想而知，如果他们落在别的TA手里，可能后果不堪设想，而我比较清楚中国学生没有受到过类似的教育，是有unfair disadvantage的，给了他们一次机会。由此我联想到，为什么中国的很多研究成果不被世界作重视，一个重要的原因就是外国人对中国人的科研产生了质疑；为什么GRE在中国改回笔试，那是因为ETS发现了中国各大网站上流传着他们的考题，尽管这些学生在考试的时候都在不会泄漏考题的地方签上了名字。其实中国学生不是随意地把自己的信誉到儿戏，只是他们没有这个概念。其实，GRE考不高又怎么样？我就听几个普林的教授坦言从不看中国学生的GRE分数。听起来不辛酸么？中国学生辛辛苦苦，奋战那么久的GRE成绩竟然被美国大学教授不屑一顾！诚然，中国有中国的国情，中国也在慢慢的改变中，我听说很多海龟教授已经开始慢慢的亲自给学生写推荐信，中国的声誉也在恢复。只是在这里，我希望，普林的学生能尽快把自己融入Honor Code的角色中，提高中国人在普林的信誉！ßáÓu’´}Îbbs.eduglobal.com1îwg…Vé—3Ï
